Celo Gather 2025: Community, Connection, and Collective Building at Devconnect Buenos Aires

During the most important week of the Ethereum ecosystem in 2025, Celo also had its moment to shine in Latin America.

On Tuesday, November 18, during the Devconnect week in Buenos Aires, we hosted Celo Gather @Devconnect 2025. This curated gathering brought together the regional and global community to build cutting-edge solutions for the real world on Celo.

A global community with local spirit

With over 430 registered participants and 158 in-person attendees, Celo Gather offered a vibrant space to exchange ideas, build relationships, and share visions for the future with participants from over 20 countries.

More than just an event, Celo Gather 2025 was a powerful demonstration of what happens when global vision meets local energy, and when global builders connect with grassroots communities.

Importantly, this event was made possible thanks to the Celo Community’s support of the Regional Council Proposal for this semester. It’s a clear example of how local, contextualized, and bottom-up initiatives are essential to building a strong, connected, and resilient ecosystem, not only in Latin America but across the Celo world.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, contributed, and activated this celebration, making it truly special.

Leaders from the Celo ecosystem joined, like Marek Olszewski, co-founder of Celo and cLabs CEO, Alon Shavit, co-founder and CEO of Upright, Liz Peng, Celo Foundation COO, Charles Hamel, Opera MiniPay’s Product Director, and folks from cLabs like Mariano, Martin Volpe, Pau, Ponti, among others.

Voices from the ecosystem

The event opened with welcome remarks by CristĂłbal Pereira (@cristpereirag), organizer and part of the CeLatam team, who emphasized the importance of gatherings like this to strengthen the human side of Web3 and learn from the diverse perspectives of those who came from around the world for Devconnect.

Next, Marek Olszewski (@marek), co-founder of Celo, delivered an inspiring update on the network’s latest milestones, including the surge in stablecoin volume, key progress following Celo’s migration to Ethereum L2, and a bold vision for an onchain economy of impact.

Following that, Rica Amaral (@ricaax) from the Celo Regional Council (@celocouncil) expressed her appreciation for the community and shared insights into the Council’s first year of activity, reinforcing the importance of building regional bridges within the ecosystem.

Closing the opening, Ana (@0xflypeztic) from Celo Colombia (@CeloColombia) shared a few words of gratitude and an invitation to enjoy the gathering while continuing to grow connections across Latin America.

Interactive, meaningful dynamics

Throughout the four-hour event, attendees participated in a community-driven activation challenge via a platform developed by Celo México (@celomexico).

The idea? Encourage real conversations and collaboration with local community representatives.

Participants earned points by:

  • Activating a wallet/account on the platform.

  • Talking to leads from Cel’EU (@celoeu), CeLatam (@celatam), Celo Colombia (@CeloColombia), and the Argentina Ambassador.

  • Joining telegram groups, following their social networks, and earning points.

Those points could then be redeemed for exclusive swag, including t-shirts, caps, chocolate, phone chargers, mate cups, and more. Celo Colombia (@CeloColombia) and CeLatam (@celatam) also brought their own swag, contributing even further to the experience with coffee bags with POAPs, t-shirts, caps, bottles, cups, insulated cups, fun keyboard keys, whistles, and more.

The outcome?

  • :white_check_mark: Over 30 new accounts activated

  • :white_check_mark: More than 400 points distributed

  • :white_check_mark: Nearly 90% of the swag redeemed

A fun and meaningful engagement mechanic that created high-value interactions throughout the evening.

A moment of growth and grounding

Celo Gather was more than a cocktail or a side event. It was a powerful example of what’s possible when the Celo community comes together: to listen, build, and support one another.

A huge thanks to everyone who attended, shared, co-organized, and helped bring this event to life.

We can’t wait for what’s next. See you soon.
