Hola Celorians!
We are happy to present our Activation Report. It’s been an amazing start of the journey and keen to see the Mexican region welcoming Celo.
TLDR
During this activation, we created the Regional DAO Foundation for the Celo network in Mexico. We developed important resources such as the Celo Mexico website and currently working on a developer Celo Mexico Academy.
The CeloMexico Team activated 3 of the most important cities in the Mexican region; Merida, Monterrey and Guadalajara. We co-hosted 4 remote events and hosted our first IRL Dev event, having a participation in 5 events during 1 month (without mentioning the x-spaces we co-hosted).
Funding
In total, Celo Mexico recevied an initial budget of $2,000USD plus the Regen-Coordination round #GG21 where we recevied a total of $2,580USD summing up $4,580 USD.
With this money, we where able to:
- Activate the CeloMexico Regional DAO
- Create a Social Media strategy plan for growth and set up accounts (both Web 2 and Web 3 oriented social media) Instagram, Facebook, X, Mirror, Telegram
- Celo Mexico branding and design
- Content translation into spanish: Mirror
- NFT Community collection on Rarible
- Presented Celo via online during the #techweek as a Blockchain who is supporting sustainability in Nuevo Leon’s governmental event, Monterrey.
- Social Media Activation: dynamics (raffle and merch giveaway), X-space co-hosting and regular basis posting
- Co-hosted (microsponsored) 3 events during Ethereum Mexico in Merida, having the opportunity to present both Celo and CeloMexico’s plans via online, while making the introduction of Celo turning into a Layer 2.
- Hosted our first IRL event in Guadalajara targeting only devs. Some ideas came out which we are currently following up (CNS, Celo running dApp, and Hackergarage as a hub for IRL Celo dev Courses).
- In process of developing a Spanish Developer Academy on Teachable
- We are setting up the ground for our next partnerships & activations whom we have identified can help flourish the Celo Network and ecosystem. More universities and Hackerhubs to come.
Some of the Keyhighlights:
- We had 5 efforts for Valora wallet downloads, both online events and IRL event, and only collecting around 8 addresses (available on our WA and Telegram groups).
- Around 60+ people heard of Celo the IRL events we co-hosted
- We started our first community on-chain transactions on the Celo Network with Rarible.
- We created our Github to start having future commits and forks on Alfajores Testnet and Mainnet (activities designed to bring more tx volume).
- 5 interesting proposals we hope to see soon on the Celo Forum, looking for support from the community, with real value and utility as a Public Good for Celo.
- We have setup our snapshot space for future governance.
This sets up the bases for our next report, both the metrics and KPIs we will be chasing focused on on-chain transactions, volume and wallets downloaded.
Conclusion:
This is a showcase of what can be done and the importance of Mexico as a region for the Celo Ecosystem. We see a lot of value in continuing Celo Mexico as a DAO with the aim to capitalize on the network established during the activation and realize more on-chain growth.
Some key elements we’re looking into are further increasing ecosystem alignment, running more programs, additional virtual campaigns, organizing a Celo Connect in Mexico 2025 and launching a Mexican Peso Stable Coin.
