Q2 2025 was a landmark quarter for MiniPay, driven by major product launches, breakout Mini App usage, and deepening adoption across key markets. Here’s what we shipped, what took off, and what’s coming next.
By the Numbers (Q2 2025)
A quick look at MiniPay’s continued momentum this quarter:
- 8 million+ total wallet activations
- 224 million+ transactions processed to date
- 600,000+ transactions happening daily
- Live in 50+ countries — and expanding
Major Product Launches
In May, we officially launched MiniPay on iOS, supported by over 30 ecosystem partners. The app is now live in 50+ countries, giving users across platforms seamless access. This unlocks new use cases at global scale; from diaspora communities sending money back home, to international travelers spending on the go, to freelancers getting paid in stablecoins.
In June, we introduced Withdraw to Exchange, giving users the ability to send stablecoins directly to external wallets and exchanges. This makes it easier to cash out, trade, or consolidate funds outside MiniPay, without complicated workarounds. It also ensures MiniPay remains accessible in markets without local off-ramps.
We redesigned the Deposit experience yet again following last year’s update to reduce failures and streamline top-ups—especially for new users. Now, Add Cash 3.0 auto-selects the best-performing ramp based on historical success rates, helping users complete the flow faster and with fewer issues.
Mini Apps are seeing breakout traction. With over 15 million monthly opens and 150 million monthly impressions, MiniPay is becoming the go-to distribution layer for stablecoin-powered apps.
New launches like Bando, Mavu, and BitGifty’s Airtime and Data Mini Apps are driving strong engagement, helped by smarter in-app placements and ongoing co-marketing support.
From Hackathon to Hypergrowth – Ecosystem Case Studies
Some of the most successful Mini Apps started as simple experiments—launched during Celo Camp with no marketing budget, just a good idea and the right distribution.
BitGifty, a bootstrapped stablecoin-powered local utility payment app built during Celo Camp Batch 8, launched in MiniPay in 2024. Today, it has grown to 450,000+ active users, now processing thousands of transactions daily across 10+ countries.
“Minipay has been instrumental in BitGifty achieving product-market fit. The ongoing support from the MiniPay team has also been a significant factor in our overall success, and we’ve greatly appreciated their assistance.”
— Adeagbo Adedolapo, Founder, BitGifty
And its not just BitGifty. The proof of traction is public and builders are sharing it themselves:
- Bando – A local voucher and bill payment app. Grew from hundreds to tens of thousands of users in days. Hear from Bando
- Topcasters by Polkamarkets – A USDT-powered prediction game where users forecast real-world events. 2.2M+ predictions played, 138K+ users
( Embed tweet) - Mdundo – One of Africa’s top music streaming platforms now offers music subscriptions for as low as $0.50, paid in stablecoins.
- Gamifly – A gamified trivia and challenge app rewarding users in stablecoins. Scaling through MiniPay’s built-in visibility
This isn’t speculative adoption, it’s usage at scale.
Mento Rewards are back in MiniPay
In June, Mento launched its third $MENTO rewards campaign allowing MiniPay users to earn $MENTO governance tokens simply by holding or transacting cUSD.
This new campaign marks the continuation of in-app token rewards inside MiniPay and gives users a direct stake in the future of the Mento ecosystem and exclusive utilities within MiniPay.
Why it matters:
- Led by Mento, this campaign rewards users for engaging with stablecoins. Not speculation, but real usage.
- It introduces millions of MiniPay users to on-chain governance and long-term participation in the Mento Protocol.
- It reflects MiniPay’s role as a powerful distribution layer for token ecosystems by bridging utility and user ownership.
On-the-Ground Growth: Community Events
In partnership with Celo’s regional DAOs, MiniPay supported community events across Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, and LATAM in Q2. These included;:
- Onboarding workshops
- University campus demos
- Collaborations with local merchants
Together, these efforts helped introduce thousands of new users to stablecoins, and are key to deepening local understanding of MiniPay’s utility.
