MiniPay is on track to hit 7 million wallet activations in April 2025, recording over 1.6 million new wallets added in Q1 alone. This steady growth reflects the strength of our onboarding strategy and reinforces MiniPay’s position as one of the fastest-growing stablecoin wallets globally.
Africa Tech Summit Web3 Award
In February, Opera attended the Africa Tech Summit event in Nairobi alongside Mento Labs and Celo Foundation. There, MiniPay was honored with a prestigious Web3 Award at the Africa Tech Summit. MiniPay’s Road to ZERO Fees
MiniPay partners with 13 on/off-ramp providers, and we’ve secured even more strategic agreements this quarter to allow users to buy and sell stablecoins on Celo with zero fees. Our growing list of zero-fee partners—enabling seamless cash-in and cash-out in 35 currencies—makes MiniPay one of the most affordable ways to move and spend stablecoins.
Enhanced User Experience
User experience remains at the heart of our innovation. In Q1 2025, our engineering team rolled out several updates to the MiniPay app, including a redesigned pay flow, a more intuitive currency picker, and enhanced visual elements that make navigation smoother than ever. At the Celo Layer 2 Mainnet launch event in San Francisco—attended by the Opera team—Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin praised Celo’s impact. He specifically highlighted Celo’s milestone of surpassing Tron in daily active stablecoin addresses, a feat significantly driven by user-friendly apps like MiniPay.
During his remarks, Vitalik called out MiniPay as meeting his personal three-part test for what makes a great app:

Continued Growth of Celo Mini Apps in MiniPay
MiniPay’s Discover Page now features 15 integrated Mini Apps built on Celo, ranging from music streaming and play-to-earn games to bill payment and donation apps. In Q1 2025, these apps collectively generated over 50 million weekly impressions and 5 million weekly app opens, a clear sign of strong user interest and engagement. This momentum is made possible through dedicated co-marketing campaigns and promotional support—including strategic placements within Opera’s owned inventory. Even more exciting: we have a new wave of Mini Apps in the pipeline, set to launch soon and unlock fresh use cases across new markets—further strengthening MiniPay’s role as a home for everyday on-chain activity.
