INHABIT Launches on Celo: Supporting Colombian Conservation along with cCOP integration

Hi, everyone!! @InhabitHubs team here! We want to share with you some exciting news.

But first, a little context:

INHABIT is a global regenerative platform pioneering ecosystem restoration through biocultural hubs, Stewardship NFTs, and a groundbreaking legal framework that recognizes nature’s rights. We’re building a network of living laboratories where traditional knowledge meets contemporary science, connecting local communities with global stewards to protect and restore critical ecosystems and biodiversity hotspots.

We’re thrilled to announce that INHABIT has integrated cCOP (Colombian Peso stablecoin) into our platform, making it easier for Colombians and the broader Celo community to participate in ecosystem restoration.

Why cCOP Matters to INHABIT

Colombia is home to some of the world’s most biodiverse regions, including the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, where our first three pilot biocultural hubs are located. By integrating cCOP we’re removing financial barriers and enabling both global and local communities to engage directly with conservation funding using national currency.

This integration aligns perfectly with Colombia’s leadership in stablecoin adoption, where stablecoins now represent 66% of all cryptocurrency transactions nationwide. The cCOP stablecoin, governed by Mento Labs, operates through smart contracts with no single entity controlling its supply, ensuring decentralization, transparency, and resilience.

How INHABIT Works

Through our platform, global stewards can purchase Stewardship NFTs that represent direct membership in specific plots of land and their conservation efforts. It’s not ownership, but active participation in protecting ecosystems. Each NFT connects holders with specific biocultural hubs, providing transparent, blockchain-verified access to restoration progress, community governance, and the tangible impact of their contribution.

Looking Ahead

With cCOP integration, we’re making it seamless for Colombians to become stewards of their own ecosystems while building a bridge between local conservation efforts and global Web3 communities. And this is just the beginning. Our vision extends to establishing 400 thriving biocultural hubs across the globe, creating a regenerative corridor that spans continents.

We invite the Celo community to explore how blockchain, when combined with ecosystem restoration and community empowerment, can create lasting positive impact for both people and planet.
