MINIPAY × NORTHERN NIGERIA
Business Development Opportunity Research

Project: MiniPay × Northern Nigeria
Status: Research in Progress
Date: September 2026
1. WHY I STARTED THIS RESEARCH
I’ve been looking at MiniPay and trying to understand one simple thing:
What does MiniPay actually need in Nigeria that someone like me can help with?
MiniPay is already in Nigeria.
So I’m not going to come and say:
“MiniPay should enter Nigeria.”
They are already here.
They already have users, local bank transfer support, stablecoins, Mini Apps and a growing ecosystem.
So I started thinking differently.
Where can MiniPay go deeper?
That question led me to look at Northern Nigeria.
2. THE OPPORTUNITY I SEE
I don’t want to say Northern Nigeria is underserved without evidence.
I want to investigate it first.
There are many young people, students, freelancers, traders, businesses and crypto users across Northern Nigeria.
But there is an important difference between:
People using crypto
and
people actively using MiniPay.
So the question becomes:
Is there an opportunity to increase MiniPay awareness, adoption and real-world usage across Northern Nigeria?
I don’t know the answer yet.
That is what this research is for.
3. THE PROBLEM
The problem may not simply be awareness.
Someone can know about MiniPay and still never use it.
Someone can download a wallet and never make a transaction.
Someone can hold stablecoins without having a reason to use them.
So I want to understand the bigger problem:
What is stopping more people from using MiniPay regularly?
Possible reasons could include:
- Low awareness
- Lack of understanding
- Lack of trust
- Lack of local education
- Not enough local use cases
- Limited merchant acceptance
- Lack of relevant Mini Apps
- Weak local distribution
- Lack of strong community partnerships
- People already using other products
These are hypotheses, not conclusions.
I need evidence before deciding which one is actually important.
4. THE GAPS I WANT TO INVESTIGATE
GAP 01 — AWARENESS
Question:
How many people in Northern Nigeria actually know about MiniPay?
What I need to find:
- Awareness among students
- Awareness among freelancers
- Awareness among crypto communities
- Awareness among traders/business owners
- Awareness in major Northern cities
Evidence / Findings:
[Add research here]
GAP 02 — EDUCATION
Even when people hear about stablecoins or wallets, they may not understand:
- What MiniPay is
- What stablecoins are
- Why they should use them
- What they can actually do with MiniPay
Could simple Hausa + English education help?
What I need to investigate:
- Existing MiniPay educational content
- Hausa content availability
- Local crypto education communities
- Common questions from Nigerian users
Evidence / Findings:
[Add research here]
GAP 03 — DISTRIBUTION
Sometimes the product isn’t the problem.
Distribution is.
The question is:
Who already has the trust and attention of the people MiniPay wants to reach?
Potential channels:
- Universities
- Student communities
- Tech communities
- Freelance communities
- Crypto communities
- Business communities
- Creators
- Local organizations
- Merchant networks
Potential partners:
[Add names here]
GAP 04 — REAL-WORLD USAGE
This may be the most important question.
Why would someone use MiniPay every week?
Possible use cases:
- Freelance payments
- Cross-border payments
- Remittances
- Merchant payments
- Online businesses
- Creator payments
- Savings
- Digital services
- Stablecoin transfers
But I don’t want to assume these are the best use cases.
Research question:
What are people already doing with stablecoins, and where could MiniPay fit naturally?
Evidence / Findings:

5. BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Another direction is finding Nigerian businesses that could potentially work with MiniPay.
I’m looking for companies that already have:
Users + distribution + a real problem that stablecoin infrastructure could help solve.
Potential categories:
| Category | What I would look for |
|---|---|
| Fintech | Payment and transfer use cases |
| Remittance | Cross-border payment problems |
| Freelance platforms | International worker payments |
| E-commerce | Digital payments |
| Merchant networks | Everyday payments |
| Creator platforms | Creator payouts |
| Education | Student payments and communities |
| Travel | International payments |
| Digital services | Online payments |
Potential Partners
Why they may be relevant:

6. MINIPAY MINI APP OPPORTUNITY
MiniPay isn’t only about bringing users into a wallet.
There is also an ecosystem of applications.
So another question is:
What Nigerian products could become useful Mini Apps?
I want to investigate Nigerian products that solve real problems and could potentially benefit from MiniPay’s distribution.
Potential areas:
- Payments
- Commerce
- Freelancing
- Remittances
- Creator economy
- Education
- Savings
- Digital services
Potential products/builders:

7. WHY NORTHERN NIGERIA?
This is where I need to be careful.
I’m not saying:
“Northern Nigeria is the biggest opportunity.”
I need to prove that.
What I want to understand is whether the region has a combination of:
Large potential audience + crypto activity + local communities + businesses + low MiniPay awareness or usage.
If those things exist together, then there may be a real opportunity.
Cities to investigate
- Kano
- Kaduna
- Abuja
- Maiduguri
- Jos
- Bauchi
- Gombe
- Yola
- Potiskum
- Sokoto
Important: The final cities should be based on evidence, not just population.
8. WHAT WOULD MINI-PAY GAIN?
If the opportunity is real, deeper regional activity could potentially contribute to:
- More active users
- More transactions
- More stablecoin usage
- More local partnerships
- More useful Mini Apps
- More merchant adoption
- Stronger local communities
- Better understanding of Nigerian users
But these are potential outcomes.
The research must prove which ones are realistic.
9. WHAT I CAN ACTUALLY BRING
I’m not trying to pretend I can do everything.
My role would be around:
Research
Understanding the market and finding opportunities.
Partner Mapping
Finding businesses, communities and people worth speaking to.
Outreach
Starting conversations with potential partners.
Local Understanding
Understanding how people in the market think, communicate and use technology.
Content & Education
Helping explain the product in simple language.
Business Development
Finding where MiniPay and a Nigerian business could create value together.
10. POSSIBLE 90-DAY APPROACH
PHASE 1 — RESEARCH
Weeks 1–2
- Study MiniPay’s Nigerian presence
- Study existing partnerships
- Interview users
- Research Northern crypto communities
- Identify potential gaps
Output:
Market & Opportunity Map
PHASE 2 — VALIDATION
Weeks 3–4
Talk to:
- Users
- Students
- Freelancers
- Businesses
- Merchants
- Community leaders
Questions:
Do you know MiniPay?
Have you used it?
If not, why?
What do you use stablecoins for?
What would make you use MiniPay regularly?
Output:
Validated Problem
PHASE 3 — PARTNER MAPPING
Month 2
Identify:
- Businesses
- Communities
- Creators
- Universities
- Developers
- Mini App opportunities
Rank them based on:
Relevance × Reach × Feasibility
Output:
Potential Partner List
PHASE 4 — OUTREACH
Month 3
Start conversations with the strongest opportunities.
Not:
“Can I work for you?”
But:
“I found a potential opportunity and I think there may be a way we can create value together.”
Output:
Real Conversations
11. HOW I WILL MEASURE THE OPPORTUNITY
I don’t want to measure success only by followers or views.
I would look at:
- Number of people interviewed
- MiniPay awareness rate
- Number of potential partners identified
- Number of qualified conversations
- Number of partnership discussions
- Number of users onboarded
- Number of active users
- Number of transactions/use cases generated
- Number of potential Mini Apps identified
Final metrics will depend on what the research proves is actually important.
12. WHAT I DON’T KNOW YET
This section is important.
I don’t want this document to pretend I already know everything.
Things I still need to prove:
- Is MiniPay awareness actually low in Northern Nigeria?
- Which Northern cities have the strongest opportunity?
- What are users currently using stablecoins for?
- What prevents people from using MiniPay?
- Which businesses could realistically partner with MiniPay?
- Is Hausa-language education actually a meaningful growth lever?
- Which use cases could generate repeated usage?
- What would MiniPay actually prioritize?
These questions are the reason for the research.
13. MY MAIN HYPOTHESIS
MiniPay may already have strong distribution in Nigeria, but there could be additional growth opportunities through more localized education, community distribution, business partnerships and real-world use cases in specific Northern Nigerian markets.
This is a hypothesis, not a conclusion.
The purpose of this case study is to test it.
14. FINAL THOUGHT
I’m learning Web3 Business Development.
I’m not calling myself an expert.
But I don’t want my portfolio to only show certificates or posts saying:
“Web3 is the future.”
I want to show how I think.
I want to research a real company.
Find a real problem.
Look for a real opportunity.
Find the people who could create value together.
And then actually reach out.
Because I’m starting to understand something:
BD is not just asking for opportunities.
Sometimes, you have to find the opportunity first.
