Delegate Thread: Precious Ezema

:tada:Introduction

GM Celorians, I’m Precious Ezema, and my journey in the web3 space began in 2021 with a passion for simplifying blockchain and making it accessible to all. I’ve been fortunate to work with some amazing communities, especially Web3Ladies, where I helped create Africa’s largest community of female blockchain developers. My work with Celo has been an incredible part of this journey.

I first learned about the Celo ecosystem in 2020 at an open-source conference, and I was immediately drawn to its mission of financial inclusion. This resonated deeply with me, and I knew I wanted to play a role in helping more people, particularly women and underrepresented groups, engage with blockchain through Celo.

:rocket:My Contributions to Celo
Working with the Celo Blockchain ecosystem has allowed me to make meaningful contributions:

  • I helped faciltate the Build with Celo hackathon 7, bringing in 80% of participants from Nigeria.
  • I built a WhatsApp community of over 80 builders, sharing resources, onboarding programs, and upcoming hackathon opportunities to keep everyone engaged.
  • I organised the WomenBuildCelo Hackathon, with over 400 participants and 33 project submissions on celo blockachain
  • I partnered with amazing communities like Web3Ladies, Women in DeFi, HerDAO Nigeria, and EmpowerHer to promote Celo and drive participation.
  • I even organized a Twitter space to promote the hackathon, which was such a fun and engaging initiative!
  • I helped reached founders and connect them to building grants in the celo ecosystem
  • I work closely with the Builder’s Connect community, a community of founders in Africa, To help drive adoption for Minipay in Africa, I promote the app to builders during our weekly community jam every Friday

:bulb: My Vision for Expanding Celo
My vision is to see the Celo ecosystem expand across Africa and Europe. I want to help foster a strong community where developers and innovators can collaborate to solve real-world problems using blockchain technology. Through community building, governance participation, and DeFi initiatives, I’m focused on ensuring that Celo’s mission of financial inclusion reaches more people.

:hammer_and_wrench:Goals for Celo’s Growth

  • I’m working to expand Celo’s presence by supporting more developers in Africa through mentorship, hackathons, and collaboration.
  • I want to build bridges between African and European communities, driving cross-continental innovation.
  • I’m passionate about promoting governance participation and helping developers secure grants to bring their ideas to life.

:computer: My Web3 Interests

  • Community Building: I love growing and managing communities where people feel connected and supported.
  • Governance: I’m excited about creating more opportunities for decentralized governance.
  • DeFi and Grants: I’m passionate about helping builders find the funding they need to create real impact through decentralized finance.

:handshake: Looking Ahead

I’m incredibly excited about the future of Celo and the broader web3 space. With my experience in community management and my passion for making blockchain accessible, I’m committed to driving Celo’s growth and helping more people take part in this exciting journey.

I worked with Precious on the Build with Celo hackathon and was impressed by her dedication and motivation.
Her feedback about the builder scene in Nigeria especially and Africa in general helped us adapt our strategy and approach for builder and founder outreach.
Precious is also running the calls for Builders Connect a community of the most successful builders and founders in Africa where she is regularly promoting the Celo Ecosystem and MiniPay.

It would be great to see Precious become a Celo Delegate as I am confident that she will provide very valuable input!
