With the recent changes to Celo tokenomics and gas costs this has caused significant issues to community projects that try to connect crypto with real world usage in emerging markets.
Projects like G$ and Sarafu sponsor gas fees and community programs from donations, grants and runnings validators.
Such projects joined Celo on the premise of supporting prosperity for all initiatives. If this is still the case we should evaluate how the foundation and community can support such projects.
Is that through grants? through the community fees from the sequencer? There should be a clear path for existing and new projects to get support.
Also I think the Celo Foundation should allocate some resources to explore more innovative tokenomics solutions than the go to increase gas fee. Eventually this has no viability when examining the blockchain competition mechanics, why would blockchain A be preferred over B?
I think there were a few interesting directions raised in the forum discussions.
Would love to get the community thoughts on whats the path forward.
