Refi through decentralized process (carus/wayst) recycling

At carus we are facilitating the next wave of adoption of Celo Native stablecoin ($cUSD) through daily activities like RECYCLING.

The Plastic waste generated in West Africa is on the rise due the the large population in its most populated country; Nigeria.
Now we at Carus are working tirelessly to bringing recycling to everyones doors step through the power of stable coin(fast and stable payment) and (the blockchain; storage of data).

In Q1, we we collected about 1,000 kg of plastic both off chain and onchain combined.

This was done in just one community. Now we are taking a big and bold step forward by partnering will other communities and building a platform that will allow partnership and also cross-integration with other countries and communities.
As we move towards Q2 we at carus are transitioning to a new phase. from our Last Update.\

While in Q1 we noticed some challenges, This were:

  1. Onboarding through the wallet was challenging so a standalone app will be necessary
  2. validators and agent far away needed a dashboard to properly track waste and avoid bypassing.
  3. Other partners that wanted to use our platform needed a separate dashboard to track, collect plastics without us.

so, we concluded we needed to improve and build certain thing in other to tackle this challenges.

As we move towards the Second Quarter (Q2) we have some exciting new road map ahead of us.
The core of this includes

  1. Full on Rebranding from CARUS TO WASYT (RECYCLING)
  2. MOBILE APPLICATION FOR EASY ONBOARDING
  3. ONBOARDING AND EXPANSION TO SEVERAL COMMUNITIES(BUILDING OF DASHBOARD ADMIN)
  4. B2B AND PARTNERSHIP HANDLING
  5. INCREASING OUR VALIDATORS NETWORK
  6. EXPANSION TO OTHER COUNTRIES

Our core focus from day one is to build a decentralized recycling platform that allows anyone, anywhere. In simpler terms, anyone can set up a validator network independently using our dapp and dashboard where all the recycling is done and each transaction can be tracked on the blockchain.

our core focus will be on this specific areas. we would be working on strategic incremental features for Carus Recycling, aligned with Celo’s ecosystem needs:

  1. User Experience Enhancements:
  • Social features to share recycling impact
  • Multi-language support focusing on African languages
  1. Technical Improvements
  • Batch processing for multiple recycling deposits
  • Stand alone app for offline transactions for poor connectivity areas
  • Mobile wallet integration improvements
  1. Validator Tools
  • Dashboard for validator performance metrics
  • Automated reward distribution system
  • Validator rating system
  1. Community Features
  • Local recycling leader boards
  • Community cleanup event organization tools
  • Local marketplace for recycled goods
  1. Environmental Impact Tracking
  • Material type tracking system
  • Real-time impact visualization
  1. Financial Features
  • Price feeds for different recyclable materials

With the help of @CeloAfricaDAO and @Prezenti.grants Team we have achieved the first half of this, while moving to the next phase we will need all the support we can get to make our plans a reality.

we are poised to collect over 5,000kg this Quarter and with partnerships ahead we believe we can make this a reality.

Great initiative!

One of the challenges is making it in a deflationary fashion for we want recycling growth to be accelerated overtime.

How do you see a solution for that in the future?

As a founder of a similar project since 2021 I am always available to help with advice if needed.

Hmmm, this is a great question.
Looking to the future of accelerated recycling in a deflationary environment, I see several promising paths forward.
The key will be finding a balance between technological innovation and design. We’ll likely need advanced automation and AI-powered sorting to drive down costs, alongside circular business models where companies take responsibility for their products’ entire lifecycle.

Also, incorporating Digital tracking systems(something DeThrash is doing) can create transparency across supply chains, while finding higher-value applications for recycled materials will improve economics even when prices are falling. Regulatory frameworks that mandate recycled content will create stable demand regardless of economic conditions.

The most successful approaches will combine these elements in ways that make recycling economically viable even during deflationary periods—

@Phil I would love to connect with you as regards more insight due to your experience and partnership opportunities especially here in africa. how can I reach out?
