This thread provides an overview of the_ CeloPG S0 _developments (Feb 2024 - July 2025). It will be updated with additional data and insights until July 31, 2025, when all Season 0 programs are finalized.
Summary
The first half of 2025 has been both exciting and eventful. With the launch of CEL2 as the most significant milestone, we’ve seen a noticeable increase in users and applications on Celo.
A standout success of CeloPG in Season 0 was the Gitcoin Grants 23 (GG23) Community Rounds, where 7 out of 8 rounds operated on Celo. Over $293,000 in donations and matching funds were allocated to these rounds, yielding nearly a 10x return on investment in terms of resources directed toward Celo projects.
Two key developments influenced CeloPG’s ecosystem programs for Q2:
- Celo projects not yet being eligible for Optimism Collective RetroPGF rewards, and
- Gitcoin undergoing a major restructuring, which postponed GG24 from June to October.
As a result, the originally planned Celo Ecosystem and Celo Contributor Rounds—intended to run in June during GG24 and align with the Optimism RetroPGF timelines—were no longer feasible.
In close collaboration with key stakeholders, including Celo’s DevRel team and the broader ecosystem, we developed a new suite of Q2 programs. These initiatives leverage the latest onchain innovations to deliver engaging, data-driven CeloPG activities, all focused on accelerating application development and continuously supporting builders on Celo.
Initial results from this diverse set of programs are promising. They are relatively lean to operate while effectively providing critical resources and support to projects at various stages of development. Building on this momentum, we plan to expand and deepen these initiatives in Season 1 as we re-commited around our updated mission: Attract, nurture, and grow projects on Celo to regenerate the network and treasury—while creating the conditions for prosperity for all, in alignment with the 2030 vision.
Budget and Spending
A total budget of 164,000 cUSD and 685,000 CELO was approved for the CeloPG H1 programs, along with approximately $10,000 in GLO received from USD GLO rewards.
As of June 17th, we have spent and allocated (marked with an * in the overview below) a combined total of 162,500 cUSD and 550,000 CELO. We anticipate completing all current programs and closing out Season 0 within budget, with an estimated 135,000 CELO remaining unspent. If no Season 1 CeloPG program proposal is approved by July 31st, this remaining CELO will be returned to the Celo Community Treasury. Otherwise, it will be transferred to the CeloPG Season 1 treasury.

Initiative Progress
CeloPG Brand and Website
In Season 0, we saw a significant increase in our reach and following, with over 125,000 impressions on X and our Farcaster channel growing to nearly 1,000 followers. We also unveiled the new CeloPG visual identity and launched key updates to the celopg.eco platform, including a redesigned and detailed program overview.
User engagement with the platform continues to grow, with nearly 750 unique visitors in the past four weeks alone.
Celo Governance and Treasury Support
Our team has proactively contributed to governance progress while expanding our suite of tools related to treasury accounting and budgeting.
The most significant update this season is the launch of the Celo Community Treasury Dune Dashboard, developed from scratch with input from cLabs. The dashboard provides a transparent view of the Celo Community Treasury’s current holdings, historical spending, and unclaimed resources.
Together with our Treasury and Governance Sheet, this dashboard forms the backbone for a Celo treasury strategy. It positions Celo Governance to make well-informed budget recommendations for Season 1 and beyond.
Celo Event Services
Instead of requesting additional resources to host a mid-scale Celo Gather event, our team collaborated with Celo Europe, MiniPay, and the Celo Foundation to align on event priorities for ETH CC. CeloPG will participate in the Blockchain for Good event, the CeloEU x Vocdoni Breakfast, and the Stablecoins Summer event.
Celo Ecosystem Rounds (Programs)

Proof of Impact (ft Divvi), impact-based rewards for live project issued monthly based on gas fees paid (150K CELO). This program sets the foundation for continuous rewards based on key metrics in the Celo Ecosystem.

Celo Support Streams (ft Aragon), protocol user incentives allocated through bi-weekly votes using CELO (100K CELO). This program explores how Celo token holders can play a proactive role in shaping up ecosystem incentives and priorities in a more fluid way.

Farcaster Wallet + MiniApps (ft FarCaster), incentivizes the use of Celo Mini Apps and rewards Celo Farcaster supporters.

Builder Rewards ft Talent Protocol, builder on the Farcaster launch, Talent protocol has built a FarCaster Mini App that distributes rewards to the most active builders on Celo with up to 10K per month for May, June, and July.

Proof of Ship hosted by Celo Devrel, a monthly program for builders to grow their onchain reputation and earn rewards, operated by the Celo DevRel team.

USD GLO Flywheel, now formalized as Spinach, is a liquidity flywheel on Celo operated by Glo Dollar through the yields they generate from the 1M+ USD GLO in the Mento Treasury. In June and July, a total of USD 3,000 and 5,000 CELO is streamed each month.

Good Builders Round 2 (link to follow once announcement live), The second iteration of the Good Builder programs will distribute 70K$ in G$ and 50,000 CELO to projects on Celo starting the first week of July until the end of October. The program uses Flowstate and Superfluid streams that will allow a more dynamic and engaging round.
Season 0 Contributor Retro
In H1, we worked closely with Kolektivo Labs to develop the Prosperity Pass—a Celo ecosystem account in Beta designed to recognize and reward contributors based on activities such as self-verification, governance voting, onchain engagement, and contributions to key ecosystem teams.
Up to 100,000 CELO in Season 0 Contributor rewards will be distributed at the end of the season via Prosperity Pass, based on various badges—including the upcoming Celo Season 0 Gov Contributor badge.
The Regen Coordination
Regen Coordination led a major GG23 Community Round focused on regenerative Web3 communities, distributing over $100K in combined donations and matching to 50+ projects working at the intersection of ReFi, Celo, and real-world impact.
This round piloted ImpactQF, a novel grant methodology combining Quadratic Funding with AI-enhanced impact evaluations—providing transparent and consistent scoring for every project.
Additionally, a $30,000 Digital Public Goods (DPG) grant program was launched, supporting critical infrastructure, including a significant grant to Karma GAP, an open-source impact reporting platform. Regen Coordination also led the integration of the Common Impact Data Standard (CIDS) into Karma GAP.
Now used in programs like Proof of Ship, Prezenti, and Proof of Impact, Karma GAP is becoming a core tool for high-integrity, onchain impact reporting across the Celo ecosystem.

GG23 Community Rounds
In total, CeloPG facilitated seven (7) Community Rounds through the Gitcoin Grants Stack. By sticking closely to the Gitcoin Grants timelines, we have been able to attract all but 1 of the community rounds to Celo.
As part of GG23, CeloPG launched a targeted “matching on matching” program to attract community rounds to deploy on Celo. With a budget of up to $30,000 in additional matching incentives.
This strategic effort demonstrated the power of combining CeloPG funding with third-party sponsor contributions and grassroots donations to dramatically amplify capital flows. Each round brought new users, onchain transactions, and capital inflows to the Celo ecosystem, in total generating over $293,000 in value — a 9.2x capital multiplier on CeloPG’s contribution.
This initiative also strengthened Celo’s strategic alignment with Gitcoin and helped position the network as a leading chain for community-driven funding infrastructure in the emerging Gitcoin 3.0 era.
Note: Third-Party Contributions include additional match funding raised from sponsors as well as crowdfunding donations during the Gitcoin rounds. Capital Multiplier represents the multiple of capital raised on Celo Contribution when compared with the Total Raised.
Technology Deployment and Development
As part of the CeloPG Ecosystem Programs and through software grants issued by Regen Coordination and CeloPG, we’ve been able to advance and support the deployment of exciting tools on Celo. Below is an overview of H1 progress enabled by CeloPG:
- Aragon: In addition to the Celo Support Streams pilot, Aragon will soon launch their Governance platform on Celo, which will allow any Celo org to run a fully onchain organization with battle-tested contracts and a smooth UI for free.
- Karma GAP: CeloPG played a key role in the design, funding, and development of new Karma GAP features that streamline the tracking and operations of all Celo ecosystem programs. The main new feature is the Celo Community section of Karma GAP which pulls in all relevant programs and already includes almost 250 projects with 350+ grants from 19 different programs being tracked.
- Deepgov: Regen Coordination initiated a partnership with Deepgov to further expand on work integrating AI agents into grant program management and evaluation. $6k was distributed to Regen Coordination projects based on the AI agent reviews and scoring. - Gardens.fund: CeloPG supported the deployment of Gardens.fund - a conviction voting governance and resource coordination tool on Celo. As part of the $25.9k raised by gardens in GG23 to support new funding pools on their platform, CeloPG offered $3k in bonus matching for Gardens communities created on the Celo network. With that, 16 garden communities have now been deployed on Celo, with total funding exceeding 40,000 USD.
Looking Ahead: Season 1 Vision
As the Celo ecosystem enters its winning age, the focus is increasingly shifting toward helping projects and builders thrive on Celo.
For Season 1, we believe the most impactful role CeloPG can play is to double down on the programs, partnerships, and initiatives incubated over the past 18 months—and commit fully to accelerating projects on Celo. Guided by the data and insights from Season 0, we aim to scale many of our initiatives to better align with Season 1’s strategic priorities.
We also remain committed to positioning CeloPG—and the broader Celo ecosystem—as integral players within the wider Ethereum landscape. Leveraging our network and expertise, we plan to support the expansion of mature Celo projects such as Self and Mento across the Superchain and broader Ethereum ecosystem.
