Introduction to Oasis Onchain

Oasis Onchain is a 3-day consumer crypto summit in the Caribbean, focusing on accessible and impactful crypto products. The 2025 event aims to:

  • Host 150 attendees, with 70% being local Caribbean users, fintech enthusiasts, students, and merchants
  • Create a symposium for demonstrating real-world blockchain applications
  • Showcase consumer crypto experiences to onboard local businesses

Motivation: The Caribbean Opportunity

The Caribbean represents a strategic market for blockchain adoption and financial innovation:

  • Market Size Sweet Spot: Large enough consumer base for meaningful adoption, small enough for targeted, efficient market entry
  • Strategic Geographic Position: Natural bridge between North American and Latin American markets
  • Regulatory Environment: Progressive approach to digital assets with established regulatory frameworks; existence of ‘Sand Dollar’ CBDC creates potential for public sector collaboration
  • Financial Infrastructure Needs:
    • High demand for stable, dollar-denominated digital assets
    • Active remittance corridors
    • Growing fintech ecosystem
    • Strong need for improved cross-border payment solutions

Specification

Two main components:

1. Summit Participation (7,500 cUSD)

  • Keynote presentation on Celo’s vision
  • Panel participation on stablecoins and mobile wallets
  • Interactive workshop on Celo-Minipay integration
  • Dedicated booth for demos and onboarding

2. Stablecoin Activation via Opera Minipay (5,000 cUSD)

  • On-site stablecoin faucet deployment
  • Direct vendor/merchant engagement for integration
  • Transaction fee subsidies + rewards (1000 cUSD)

Current Status

  • New initiative leveraging existing relationships with Opera and Oasis Onchain
  • Builds upon Opera’s recent Minipay wallet launch
  • Currently planning Oasis Onchain 2025 for Jan 30 - Feb 2

Timeline and Milestones

  • Dec 2024 - Jan 15: Oasis Onchain Summit preparation, merchant vetting + onboarding onto Minipay
  • January 15, 2025: Complete technical preparations
  • Jan 30 - February 2, 2025: Oasis Onchain Summit participation
  • February 2025: Post-summit integration support
  • March 2025: Final report and metrics assessment + content for Celo

Metrics and KPIs

Summit Engagement Metrics

  • Achieve 80%+ attendance rate (120+ participants) at Celo keynote presentation
  • Minimum 50 participants in Celo-Minipay technical workshop
  • Generate 100+ unique interactions at booth demonstrations

Wallet & Transaction Metrics

  • Activate 100+ new Minipay wallets with Celo stablecoins during summit
  • Achieve 300+ total transactions during summit period using test cUSD
  • Target 50% of attendees to complete at least one test transaction

Marketing & Awareness Metrics

  • Generate 50+ social media mentions during summit
  • Collect 100+ email signups for future Celo-Caribbean initiatives
  • Produce a comprehensive event report with user feedback and adoption insights

Payment Terms

Budget disbursement in cUSD through Celo governance:

  • 100% upon approval due to paying for expenses such as venue, swag and other operating costs

Oasis Onchain is operated by 4 founding team members:
