Thanks @LauNaMu for commenting on specifics of the proposal that need some more clarity. I appreciate the detail and share some of the same questions.

Regarding remuneration, I’m not super concerned about the spend on headcount here. Much of this on-chain, self-organised work is very difficult. The work is self-driven, and includes lots on unplanned/unpaid time that simply takes time at the desk: tracking down partners, cold opens to potential collaborators, testing new software releases trying to support aligned infrastructure providers, collaborating with stakeholders in the ecosystem, championing and communicating your work, just business development in general. Further there is no insurance, no sick leave or benefits, no continuance or future ability to plan around income that would be afforded in a normal 9-5 corporate job. This is valuable work and I know there’s crossover with what the Foundation is doing as well, but I believe there’s a place for a community-led function here.

@CPG_Stewards Is there further detail of what/where/when the planned event would be?

Obviously there is some friction between the proposal of the Regional Council and the existing CeloPG here, but a couple of good things might come out of it. Firstly, the conversation and scrutiny is fantastic. Secondly, perhaps it might bifurcate these entities into having clearer remits: Regional Council managing the local DAOs, and CeloPG focusing more on their namesake: public goods outreach, public goods operations and communication, business development / events management.

I’ll be voting Yes with the same provisos as the Regional Council - I think the community will expect to see a lot of detail on outcomes and deliverables coming into July. I have witnessed the hours @LuukDAO especially has put managing stakeholders and partners and trying to get good outcomes without funds just flying out the door to whomever asks. This is valuable to me. I don’t always agree with every decision and line-item, and I don’t here either. But the expansion of Celo’s mindshare in general is a mission I support and CeloPG stood up to try and make that happen.

Hi Lau,

  1. In the real-world builder round, CeloRPGF0 and Celo Citizen round all resources are dedicated to proven builders on Celo. In the other programs, we always specify Celo-alligned requirements, which has resulted in many groups being attracted to and now building on Celo. From our resources spent in 2024 I can say with confidence over 90% is allocated to teams and initiatives actively building or using Celo.

  2. The CeloPG leads, and contributors have active communications channels and weekly syncs. We also have Sophia as part of our group - who is deeply involved in Celo DevOps, and we’re increasingly aligning comms and initiatives there. Now that Anna is deeply involved in Governance, we also have active check-ins with her. Comms has been improving, and I would even say it is now good.

  3. Expanding on the CeloPG website and creating a meaningful stand-alone brand that integrates well with other Celo brand (and initiatives like Celo Gather) is valuable from our POV. To streamline coordination and ensure effective use of the brand and web platform we prefer working with our own contributors (who have proven to ship things that the Celo community loves) instead of an RFP process.

  4. Good preparation is important for a good event to occur in line with Ecosystem priorities. The work has already started, so the line item is there. We’re exploring the best scope, location, and date with the Foundation and other stakeholders.

  5. Not having a legal entity means all contributors take unrealistic risks. For some co-funding budgets, such as Gitcoin KYC, and especially as we expand beyond Web3, having a non-profit foundation is a necessity

6 +7. These board members take (limited) personal risk and are responsible for ensuring local compliance. This is an extremely low rate for these services relative to other Web3 groups. The H1 Board will be an extension of the CeloPG group and consist of Monty, Myself and Priscilla - our legal council and local representative.

  1. The services offered by CeloPG have always been provided (and remain to be) at a below-market rate. This is the price that contributors with a proven track-record should pay for contributions of this kind.

To reduce COI risk, we’ll continue to expand on the use of public and permissionless solutions for grant management - including leveraging Allo’s direct grants framework and the next iteration of Karma GAP (for which we are a design partner) to track all decisions and allocations.

  1. We’ll track additional hours contributed by contributors and third parties. We can share an overview of this in the S0 report.

Thanks for sharing your detailed reflection. We do indeed have a lot of unplanned (and unplannable work), but after over a year of operating CeloPG, I’m confident our estimations are correct. Just last week, we were pulled into a Celo Foundation project and paused all other things to help out - which we can only do if we have some flexibility in our commitments.

We’re in touch with the Celo Foundation to find the right time and location for the event - it will likely take place in Paris or Cannes around the ETHCC dates, but further research and scoping is required to find the right fit!

Glad to have your support - we’re stoked about this next phase for CeloPG and the broader Celo ecosystem!

Hi @LuukDAO,

Thanks for your response! However, ideally, every proposal should follow the same procedures, meaning each person involved in the multisign should confirm their participation individually. While they may have confirmed in a past proposal, accounts can be compromised, so it’s important to maintain consistency and security in the process.

Additionally, the address provided for @Sov doesn’t seem to match the multisign details you previously shared. Instead of that address, the multisign appears to have this address as a signer: 0x5F834C8f70baaEAfAd00662Cd214245c9A1A9ef5. Could you clarify this discrepancy?

Yes thanks for flagging this @celogovernance

This was my error. 0x2D7d6Ec6198ADFD5850D00BD601958F6E316b05E is my main social wallet (sovereignsignal.eth) whereas the other address provided is a signer I use on other safes.

Either of these could work though I would prefer to use 0x5F834C8f70baaEAfAd00662Cd214245c9A1A9ef5 if possible since I use it on other safes.

Let me know if any questions!
