CeloHT Team
Choosing a blockchain is one of the most important decisions we make as a project. It affects how the application is built, how users interact with it, how payments are handled, and how the project can grow over time.
For CeloHT, we chose Celo because its technology and ecosystem are well aligned with what we want to build.
CeloHT is not creating a new blockchain, and we are not creating a new cryptocurrency. Our approach is to build on existing infrastructure and use assets already available within the Celo ecosystem, including CELO and cUSD.
Built for Practical Use
Our goal with CeloHT is to create practical utility rather than add another token to an already crowded ecosystem.
We believe blockchain technology becomes more valuable when people can use it for real activities without needing to understand every technical detail behind the application.
This is why we want the blockchain layer to work naturally in the background while users focus on the service or experience CeloHT provides.
Why Celo
Celo’s focus on payments, accessibility, and real-world blockchain applications makes it a strong foundation for CeloHT.
The ecosystem provides infrastructure that allows us to concentrate on developing the application instead of building an entire blockchain network from the ground up.
For us, this is an important distinction.
We would rather spend our resources improving CeloHT, its user experience, its security, and its functionality than attempting to recreate infrastructure that already exists.
CELO and cUSD
CeloHT is designed to work with existing assets in the Celo ecosystem.
CELO provides the native asset of the network, while cUSD can provide a stable-value option for transactions where predictable value is important.
This gives us the ability to design payment experiences without requiring CeloHT to introduce its own cryptocurrency.
We believe this makes the project simpler for users and keeps our focus on utility.
Mobile Accessibility
Mobile accessibility is also important to us.
Many users interact with digital services primarily through their phones, so we want CeloHT to be accessible without requiring users to rely on complicated desktop-based cryptocurrency infrastructure.
The Celo ecosystem and compatible wallets such as Valora give us a strong foundation for developing this type of experience.
Our objective is simple: make the technology useful without making the technology itself the center of the experience.
Valora and Wallet Integration
Wallets are an important part of the Web3 user experience.
For CeloHT, Valora is particularly relevant because it provides users with a familiar way to interact with assets within the Celo ecosystem.
Rather than creating a completely isolated financial environment, we want CeloHT to connect naturally with the existing tools users already have.
This is an important part of our approach to building within Celo.
A Strong Developer Foundation
Celo also provides an EVM-compatible environment, which gives developers access to familiar technologies and tools.
For CeloHT, this allows us to work with technologies such as Solidity and established Ethereum-compatible development tools when building our smart-contract infrastructure.
This gives the team a practical technical foundation for developing and testing the application.
Our development priorities include:
Smart contracts
dApp development
Wallet integration
Testing
Security
Documentation
On-chain functionality
Continuous improvement
We Are Not Building Another Blockchain
One of our core decisions is that CeloHT does not need its own blockchain.
Launching a blockchain would require the project to build and maintain network infrastructure, security mechanisms, validators, developer tooling, wallet integrations, liquidity, and a broader ecosystem.
That would move our attention away from the problem we actually want to solve.
By building on Celo, we can focus our resources where they matter most: building CeloHT.
We Are Not Creating Another Cryptocurrency
The same principle applies to tokens.
CeloHT is not being created around the idea of launching a new cryptocurrency.
We intend to use existing assets such as CELO and cUSD where appropriate instead of introducing a new token simply because the project operates in Web3.
Our priority is utility.
A token should not exist without a meaningful reason.
Building Within an Ecosystem
We also believe that building on a blockchain means becoming part of its ecosystem.
CeloHT wants to learn from Celo developers, builders, community members, and other projects.
We want to share our progress, receive feedback, identify weaknesses early, and improve the project through open discussion.
For that reason, CeloHT is not being developed as an isolated project.
We are building within the Celo ecosystem.
Our Technical Direction
At a high level, the CeloHT architecture is designed around existing Celo infrastructure:

CELO / cUSD

Wallet Integration

CeloHT dApp

CeloHT Smart Contracts

Users
The exact architecture will continue to evolve as development progresses, testing is completed, and we receive feedback from the community.
We believe in documenting that evolution openly.
Security Remains Our Responsibility
Building on an established blockchain does not eliminate the responsibility of the CeloHT team.
We understand that smart-contract security, application security, wallet interactions, testing, deployment, and user protection remain our responsibility.
As development progresses, security and testing will therefore remain important parts of our development process.
We want CeloHT to be built carefully rather than rushed simply to reach a launch date.
Looking Ahead
Our decision to build on Celo is ultimately about focus.
We want to use existing infrastructure where it makes sense and dedicate our energy to creating something useful on top of it.
As CeloHT develops, we expect our understanding of the product and its technical requirements to evolve as well.
We will continue to document our progress, publish development updates, listen to feedback, and improve the project.
Conclusion
We chose Celo because it provides an environment that fits the direction of CeloHT.
It gives us access to blockchain infrastructure, payment-focused capabilities, existing assets, wallet integrations, EVM compatibility, and an active ecosystem of builders and users.
Most importantly, it allows us to focus on what we actually want to build.
CeloHT does not need to create another blockchain.
It does not need to create another cryptocurrency.
It needs to build useful technology.
That is why we chose Celo.
