The cLabs engineering teams are preparing to activate Celo’s next major network upgrade, dubbed Ice Cream 
The Ice Cream Hardfork will bring EigenDA v2 (“Blazar”) across Celo testnets and mainnet. This is a significant upgrade to our data availability layer that delivers faster confirmation times, improved stability, and greater scalability.
In the recently published roadmap update, cLabs shared more about what this upgrade means for the network. This post is to confirm the activation timeline and provide instructions for node operators.
Activation Timeline

Baklava testnet – Activated on Wed, Jul 30, 2025

Alfajores testnet – Target activation: Wed, Aug 20, 2025

Mainnet – Target activation: Wed, Sep 10, 2025
As this upgrade is activated on the sequencer and batcher, exact activation times on those dates cannot be provided, but they will happen no sooner than the posted dates.
Action Required for Node Operators
To be ready for the hardfork:

Upgrade your EigenDA proxy to version v1.8.2 before the activation date

This version is backwards compatible with EigenDA v1 and can be updated ahead of time.
