CELO SHIELD Q1 Report
Q1 2025 was a busy time for the ecosystem. Celo L2 was launched, as was Self Protocol. There are now almost 600,000 people are using Celo on a weekly basis.
There was no shortage of security incidents during this time. The largest-ever DeFI hack occurred and IngressNightmare (CVE-2025-1974) threatened Web3 infrastructure. Threat actors continue to pose a risk to successful projects. This is where Celo SHIELD comes in.
66% of the initial transfer has been allocated. 4 major security applications were onboarded to Celo and are being calibrated. A dedicated Web3 Security Analyst has been engaged to perform security event analysis and threat hunting across this new tooling. A Security Audit for a partner was completed, allowing them to launch and be promoted on Celo. Overall, 7 partners have been onboarded and included in the program.
It is important that we first implement applications that have an annual-based service offering. We will focus on project-based work, like Security Audits and Supply Chain Security, in the upcoming months.
Considering the entirety of the budget, our spending is as follows:
Call To Action: If you are a project on Celo and could benefit from strengthened security in any of these areas, please let us know. The Celo SHIELD team will be happy to assess risk and provide appropriate controls.
We look forward to sharing security insights in the next couple months and are energized to bring security to Celoโs growing ecosystem.
