## 🏗 Onboarding CMIC: Bringing the Construction Industry Onchain via Celo **TL;DR** We’ve officially onboarded **CMIC CDMX** (Cámara Mexicana de la Industria de la Construcción) to the Celo ecosystem — opening the door to one of Mexico’s most traditional and economically significant industries. Backed by **SEDECO** and in talks with **SEDEMA** , this collaboration positions Celo as the infrastructure for real-world environmental solutions. The construction industry contributed **MXN $2.32 trillion pesos** to Mexico’s GDP in 2024 and employed over **8.5 million people** across the country[1](#user-content-fn-1). Much of it ends up in illegal landfills, affecting soil, water, and public health. These materials — concrete, metals, wood, etc. — often go untracked and underutilized. Our initiative aims to create an **onchain system** that enables traceability, reuse, and tokenization of these resources — turning them into **Real World Assets (RWAs)**. * * * ### 🤝 Institutional Backing We pitched this initiative to **SEDECO** (Secretaría de Desarrollo Económico de CDMX), which formally backed the project and is now connecting us with **SEDEMA** (Secretaría del Medio Ambiente). This triad — CMIC + SEDECO + SEDEMA — forms the public-private framework to ensure the solution is both economically viable and environmentally impactful. Thanks for the mention @celomexico indeed we aim to activate and launch DigiPaga in Mexico, ideally with cMXN a stable coin with Mento Labs. @MichaelKwan @bayological We are actually ready to launch a product for cMXN, the question is: how long would it take to have the cMXN on-chain? : ) This use case for DigiPaga tech and platform to enable payments of stablecoin in Mexican Peso for the construction industry y a strong use case for Mento Labs and the cMXN. Not only this niche we are outlooking products for other niches as well, including PoS, E-commerce with stables via DigiPaga plugin for SME and others. @GerryAlvrz indeed a team member of DigiPaga/Digimercados (ex CMO at Gate\_io) sent email to Celo Mexico, before and after winning the stablecoin hackathon, and so far there is no answer or strategy to support the DigiPaga and the cMXN stablecoin in Mexico. ---
