Hey @kamikazechaser, sorry for the slow reply here, especially with the vote already live.
Short answer: no, V3 won’t have a CELO pool. We built V3 to only do stabletokens, which is what Mento has really been about all along, so we’re not planning a replacement for CELO/USDm.
Some background on why. The CELO pool was the last piece of the original CELO-collateralized design still running, and it never behaved like the 1:1 stable pools (USDC, axlUSDC, USDT, axlEUROC). Flow through it was mostly one-directional: the Reserve kept taking in CELO as the price fell, and that price risk sat on stabletoken backing. Running it properly would have meant selling a lot more CELO, which we consistently chose not to do in the interest of CELO holders. MGP-19 follows through on this: CELO stops being an active reserve asset, 10% stays as an asset of last resort, and 90% goes back to the Celo Community Fund.
Going forward, the guaranteed exit is to USD stables: every FX stable keeps its Broker exit to USDm, and USDm keeps its 1:1 pools against USDC and USDT on V3. From there to CELO is a market trade, and you’re right that depth is thin today. But part of the reason is that the Mento pair was soaking up this volume. Once it moves to Uniswap, fees on CELO/USDC go up, and LPing becomes a lot more attractive. And if that’s not enough, MGP-19 puts ~$3.1M of CELO back in the Community Fund, so the community can incentivize that pool if deeper CELO liquidity is a priority.
