It’s unlikely for the CEL2 network to launch fully decentralised from day one and some kind of training wheels are to be expected. The path to decentralisation however is important and it predefines the potential role of the current set of Celo node operators.
One of cLabs’ goals is definitely to prioritize retaining the decentralization of the Celo L1 on the transition to L2. In fact, I’ll try to adjust the post to clarify that. We talked a bit in the original sample OP Stack based design (leaving aside plans for Superchain) about how we could achieve a decentralized sequencer by adapting Celo’s current approach, but other designs are definitely possible.
On the question of shared sequencers – that’s also interesting and we’d love community input on that.
