# Who am I?
I am Martín Volpe, but most people know me as Volpe. I started my career in crypto while building a startup from the [Voltaire House](https://www.lanacion.com.ar/la-nacion-revista/casa-voltaire-como-era-el-lugar-de-reunion-de-quienes-iniciaron-empresas-que-hoy-valen-millones-nid05032022/) in Buenos Aires, my hometown.
# How have I been involved with Celo?
I got involved with Celo back in 2019, before mainnet launch, when I moved to Berlin to join cLabs. I’ve worn a bunch of different hats within the company, including working on early iterations of Valora and Mento. I’ve run pilots on the ground with users in Argentina, Colombia and Mexico, where locals got to interact with crypto, many for the first time.
Now, I am a Board Member and an Engineering Manager for the Primitives Team, where we maintain and build [Celo Core Contracts](https://github.com/celo-org/celo-monorepo/tree/master/packages/protocol), [stCelo](https://app.stcelo.xyz/connect) and [Social Connect](https://socialconnect.xyz/), among other projects. Fun fact, my team was the one who built the voting delegation itself 🙂 (kudos to Pavel and Matt!).
From the community side, I’ve been very involved in Celo’s Governance progress. I’ve authored a wide range of proposals, I’ve lost count but a quick search shows that I [co-authored](https://github.com/search?q=repo%3Acelo-org%2Fgovernance%20martinvol&type=code) around 25, including Celo token [fee buyback](https://mondo.celo.org/governance/cgp-108) and enabling [USDC](https://mondo.celo.org/governance/cgp-127) and [USDT](https://mondo.celo.org/governance/cgp-128) as gas currency.
# What’s been my involvement with the community?
I’ve been running [Bitcandy](https://t.co/XokLcKRDKR) since 2020, where we host validator nodes. The project started shortly after mainnet launch and, to my knowledge, Bitcandy is the only validator still running in South American, specifically in Brazil.
I have been involved in a wide range of projects built on Celo, like Moola, Ubeswap and Haraka just to name a few. I am a signer for the [Mento Watchdog](https://docs.mento.org/mento/governance-and-token/governance-components#watchdog-multisig), [Stabila Treasury](https://stabila.foundation/) and [Celo Governance Approver](https://mondo.celo.org/governance/cgp-101) multisigs. I am also a signer and a member for [ceLatam DAO](https://www.celatam.org/) since 2023.
# Why I want to be a delegator?
I think DAOs are starting to face the same problem a lot of traditional institutions already face: people who are busy building do not have time to deal with politics, so positions of power end up in people whose goals do not necessarily align with the builders and the wider community.
As a builder myself, and a long-time community member, I would like to amplify these points of view in governance decisions.

Voted **Abstain** ,I think the Committee has done an excelente job lately, but as the heavy lifting is already in the past, I think the current team is oversized for current needs.
Assuming they get paid 100 USD/hour (already top of the market), that’s 20 hours a per member. I understand that there is on-call, but I don’t think this service takes that much effort to run.
