Hello Celo Community,

We are sharing an update on CeloHT, an open-source initiative focused on financial inclusion, Web3 education, digital payments, entrepreneurship, and reforestation.

The project is being developed around three main areas: Education, Agent Network, and Reforestation. Our initial pilot focus is Léogâne, Haiti, where we aim to explore practical ways to connect digital tools with community needs.

What we are working on

CeloHT is more than a website. The project includes a dApp and several technical components covering smart contracts, backend services, data indexing, documentation, and governance.

Our goal is to bring these components together into a platform that can be tested, reviewed, and improved before it is used in a live environment.

Education is a central part of the project. We want people to be able to understand the tools they use, rather than depend on technology they cannot easily access or navigate. Our approach places particular importance on accessible learning resources and a Creole-first experience.

We are also developing the concept of a community agent network and exploring ways to support transparent, community-led reforestation initiatives.

Current technical status

The project is still under development, and we want to be clear about that.

Our smart contracts are being developed and tested on Celo Sepolia Testnet. They have not been deployed to Celo Mainnet.

Testing on Sepolia allows us to evaluate functionality and identify issues before considering a production deployment. It does not mean the contracts are ready for live financial activity.

An independent smart-contract security audit remains necessary before Mainnet deployment. The findings will need to be addressed, and the relevant testing, integration, and operational checks must be completed.

We are taking this stage seriously because security and reliability matter, particularly when a project intends to work with digital financial services.

We invite the community to review the project and follow its development.

We welcome feedback on the code, architecture, documentation, and overall direction of the project.

What we need at this stage

As development continues, we are looking to connect with people who can contribute practical experience and help us prepare for the next phase.

In particular, we would appreciate:

- Feedback from Celo developers and smart-contract engineers.

- Guidance on independent security audits and Mainnet readiness.

- Connections with ecosystem contributors and potential strategic partners.

- Information about relevant grant programs and early-stage funding opportunities.

- Advice on designing a realistic pilot and measuring its results.

We are not presenting CeloHT as a finished product. We are building it step by step and want to identify the gaps that need attention before moving forward.

A few questions for the community

For teams that have worked through a similar process, what should we prioritize before moving from testnet development toward Mainnet?

Are there Celo ecosystem programs or organizations that support early-stage projects working on financial inclusion, education, and community impact?

We would also welcome recommendations for independent security auditors and developers interested in reviewing open-source work.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to explore the project and share useful feedback.

We look forward to connecting with other builders and continuing the work.

Nice to see the contracts open and already tested on Sepolia, including the Echidna invariant on the split.

A few things from reading celoht-smart-contracts that are worth sorting before an audit:

1. Governance is one wallet, one vote with a 0.010 USDm fee and no check on who the voter is. New wallets are free, so a few hundred of them cost a few dollars and can decide any proposal. It’s advisory today, but once results guide the multisig it matters. Gating vote() on something scarce, like an active agent in the registry, would make the count mean what the docs say.
2. For mainnet readiness, what helps any reviewer most is a frozen commit and a short doc with the roles, who holds them on mainnet, and the invariants you rely on (the split always sums to the amount, one vote per wallet per proposal). You already have the start of that in the repo.

Good luck with the pilot.

Thank you for the thoughtful review and for recognizing the progress made with CeloHT’s smart contracts on Sepolia.

Your feedback on governance participation is particularly valuable. We recognize that a voting mechanism must be evaluated not only for its technical correctness, but also for its resistance to Sybil attacks and the credibility of its results. As CeloHT progresses, we will carefully assess eligibility controls that strengthen governance integrity without unnecessarily restricting community participation.

We also agree that audit readiness requires more than passing tests. A frozen commit, clearly documented contract roles and deployment assignments, and explicit security invariants are essential for independent verification. Our priority is to address these requirements transparently before considering mainnet deployment.

CeloHT is being built incrementally, with an emphasis on open-source development, verifiable progress, and responsible deployment. Feedback from independent reviewers helps us challenge our assumptions and improve the system before it reaches production.

We appreciate the time you invested in reviewing the repository and sharing actionable recommendations. This kind of technical scrutiny is valuable to the project and to the long-term credibility of the ecosystem.

Thank you for your support of the pilot.

Good to see you being upfront that it’s still on testnet. On measuring the pilot, from the wallet support side, a few simple things usually show whether people can really use it on their own:

- After the first session, can participants send and receive a payment without help?
- Can they back up their wallet and restore it on another phone?
- Which questions come up most often, and in which language?

Tracking these for a few weeks would show where the education materials need work before you expand.
